Select Instrument

JGuitar offers the capability to calculate chords and scales for stringed instrument with any number of strings and frets. Use this page to configure your instrument and you'll be able to navigate to other pages of the site using the instrument you have selected. The current instrument is always shown on the left bar beside the word "Instrument" in case you forget. To add a capo to the instrument, select the fret you would like to add the capo on from the capo drop-down menu. The maximum fretspan drop-down allows you to define the number of frets your fingers can reach across the fretboard. This setting is currently only used by the chord calculator. There are 2 ways to configure the instrument JGuitar uses to calculate chords and scales. You can choose a preset instrument from the instrument drop-down menu or you can select a custom instrument using the strings and frets drop-down menus. In any case, click "Update" for the changes to take effect.
